Indonesia's Ministry of Trade Unveils Key Strategies to Boost Export Growth

Jakarta, 27 Oct 2024

Indonesian Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) is implementing key strategies to boost national exports and enhance their role in economic growth. Fajarini Puntodewi, Head of the Trade Policy Agency, explained that Kemendag is expanding market access to non-traditional countries and leveraging trade agreements to increase the competitiveness of Indonesian products abroad.

Among Kemendag's initiatives are actively promoting Indonesian products through international trade missions, participating in overseas trade fairs, and strengthening domestic exhibitions such as Trade Expo Indonesia. They are also working with international representatives to open up more export opportunities for local products.

In a move towards sustainable and inclusive growth, Kemendag is prioritizing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with programs designed to help them reach international markets. The “UMKM BISA Ekspor” program, for instance, offers SMEs the support they need to become successful exporters, including training and easier market access.

Supporting logistics and improving export information systems are also part of Kemendag's strategy to streamline exports. According to Indonesia’s Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), Indonesian exports reached USD 22.08 billion in September 2024, a 6.44% year-on-year increase, with non-oil exports also showing strong growth. These efforts aim to foster a resilient, competitive, and sustainable export ecosystem.

The Ministry’s proactive measures are set to create new opportunities across sectors, and Bayus Cargo is prepared to support this export surge in the coming quarter. With enhanced logistics and tailored services for small to medium exporters, Bayus Cargo is committed to helping Indonesian businesses expand their global reach and succeed in international markets. source:bisnis.com
